About ASMC

The Australian Sugar Milling Council is a voluntary, advocacy organisation, which was established in 1987 to represent Australia’s raw sugar milling sector.

As the peak policy forum for mill owners, the Council’s mission is:

To drive a profitable and sustainable sugar industry through:

  • Dynamic industry leadership
  • Strong and effective advocacy and
  • Creating new opportunities.

The Milling Council works with its members, other industry organisations and government to develop a positive policy environment in which to create jobs, enhance efficient production of raw sugar, encourage mill cogeneration of electricity, and to promote the ongoing commercial development of the sugar industry in Australia.

ASMC Board consists of up to 12 Board members including a Chairman and 2 Deputy Chairmen. Board members are nominated by our member companies and the Chairman and Deputy Chairmen are elected by appointed Directors.
