Australian Sugar Milling Council welcomes Ash Salardini as new CEO | 20 February 2024

Ash Salardini, ASMC CEO

The Board of the Australian Sugar Milling Council (ASMC) has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer with Ash Salardini to take up the role on 12 March 2024.

Chair of the ASMC, Jannik Olejas, said that Mr Salardini would bring to the CEO role an impressive background in public policy and government affairs.

Mr Salardini has held key positions with Business NSW, Business Sydney and the Australasian Railways Association as well as in primary industry as Chief Economist for the NSW Farmers’ Association, and Chief Economist and General Manager Trade for the National Farmers’ Federation.

“Ash has a record of achievement with Morrow Sodali (previously Domestique Consulting) where he was Managing Director of Public Affairs, and earlier as Head of Public Policy and Government Affairs with Rabobank,” said Mr Olejas.

“He holds degrees in Economics, Law and International Studies from the University of Sydney, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Warwick (UK), and has successfully completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors course.

“The ASMC Board believes he has the experience, skill and vision to lead our milling sector members as we expand our role as a vital contributor to the economic and employment prosperity of Australia, and Queensland in particular.”

Mr Jannik Olejas, ASMC Chair

“The sugar industry and Australian governments have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to advance an already competitive industry beyond raw sugar and biofuels into sustainable aviation fuel and renewable electricity cogeneration, while playing a role in national progress to net-zero,” Mr Salardini said.

“Industry and governments must work together to make this opportunity a reality.”

“It is an honour to be appointed as CEO of the ASMC, and I look forward to collaborating with member milling companies, others in the sugar milling sector, cane growers, and governments to ensure Australia’s sugar industry remains the bedrock of economic prosperity for communities across regional Australia and beyond,”
